Clean your room,
my mamma shouts!
Oh! What an ordeal!
Let me see!
Mm… Failed test papers,
crushed and thrown!
Crumbled candy covers,
reminiscent of the friendship
I thought would last forever.
Letters, unfinished, unsent.
Torn! Like my heart in that autumn day.
Photographs and autographs,
Souvenirs’ from the life that once was
And once could have been.
Dreaming liberation into a world bigger than infinity,
There it lay,
All the skeletons of my closet,
Awaiting cremation!
The last kite in my heart’s sky,
Pulled on the only string attached
Throbbing to break free!
If only I could let go..
